Cooper Kupp's Dad Tweets Cheerful Response to Troy Aikman's Questionable Remark on TNF
By Sean Facey
Troy Aikman caught some flak heading into the weekend over some questionable comments he made on Thursday Night Football about Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp's father, Craig, who just so happened to be his backup for a brief time with the Dallas Cowboys. He seemingly suggested that Kupp was a forgettable player.
But in a true act of civility, Craig Kupp turned the other cheek, cheerfully giving Aikman a pass for his comments and even inviting him to catch up over a cup (or Kupp?) of coffee sometime in the near future.
Aikman's words turned some heads because they came off as a slight toward Kupp in terms of his inability to stick with the team. Fortunately, the subject of his comments gracefully said all the right things.
It's good to see that he's not taking the words the wrong way, and that he's giving Aikman the benefit of the doubt. It definitely didn't seem like Aikman was trying to disparage Kupp in any way, though his choice of words was less than ideal.
Who knows, maybe the two can end up rekindling their friendship? That would be a good podcast: "Kupp of Coffee With Troy & Craig."
