Cordarrelle Patterson Reportedly Asked Matt Nagy if He Could Play Tight End for the Bears

Cordarrelle Patterson proved throughout his NFL career that he's a jack of all trades. Yet, he's mostly been limited to special teams work with the Chicago Bears, which he's thrived in thus far. Patterson is apparently looking for extra work.
According to reports, Patterson asked head coach Matt Nagy if he could fill in at the tight end position.
Entering Thanksgiving Day against the Detroit Lions, the Bears have been hit with the tight end plague this season.
Starter Trey Burton has been placed on season-ending injured reserve, while Adam Shaheen and Ben Braunecker were ruled out against the Lions. That leaves Chicago with JP Holtz and Jesper Horsted as the only active tight ends for their trip to Detroit.
Patterson showed that he can do it all, whether it's returning kickoffs, running receiver routes, blocking, or carrying the ball as a rusher. The New England Patriots used Patterson in a variety of ways, and he played a role in the team winning the Super Bowl last season.
With Chicago, Patterson hasn't exactly been utilized to his full potential by Nagy. In 11 games this season, he's recorded eight catches for 39 yards, 78 rushing yards on 12 carries, and 621 return yards and a touchdown.
With the Chicago Bears' playoff hopes dwindling, it's time for Matt Nagy to do whatever it takes to try to bring a spark to the offense. If that includes using Cordarrelle Patterson at tight end, then do it.
