This Eagles-Titans Trade Involving Alshon Jeffery and Corey Davis Could Actually Work
By Mark Powell
The Tennessee Titans declined the fifth-year option on Corey Davis, opening up the possibility of a trade prior to him becoming a free agent at the end of next season.
AJ Brown has overshadowed Davis as the No. 1 option with Ryan Tannehill at the helm, and with the Titans being a heavy run-oriented team, there's no reason to pay two former first-round wideouts top dollar.
A simple solution? Deal him to Philly and pick up some draft capital in the process.
The Eagles are desperate to get rid of Alshon Jeffery, whose high cap hit would allow the Titans to demand a better draft pick than just Davis would return. The WMU product alone could command a fourth-rounder. Add in Jeffery's salary of $13 million, and Philly would be forced to trade a second-round pick to Tennessee just to rid themselves of that contract. In the process, they'd acquire a solid target for Carson Wentz.
Jeffery is no slouch, either. While his price tag doesn't reflect his talent right now, he's still a capable No. 2 to Brown, assuming he can stay healthy.
Such a trade solves problems for both teams.
