VIDEO: Cowboys DE Aldon Smith Gives Powerful Statement on What it Means to Get Another Chance
The Dallas Cowboys signed defensive end Aldon Smith this offseason even though the former No. 7 overall pick had not played in an NFL game since the 2015 season. He has been suspended by the league since then and has not played a full 16 games since 2012 because of all his legal troubles. 2020 will hopefully be different, as Smith was reinstated by the NFL on Wednesday and shared a powerful message with Jay Glazer about receiving another chance.
Smith appears to have matured and expressed how he hopes he can help others with similar issues by using the platform that comes with playing in the NFL. Turning all his past negatives into positives would be step forward for a much-maligned former NFL star.
Smith was an elite player when he debuted in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers. He is now 30 years old and will have to get used to playing professional football again. An early positive is that he seems to realize the chance he is getting and hopefully he follows through on his message of staying out of trouble and helping others.
