Cowboys Reportedly Agree to Huge 5-Year Deal With Amari Cooper
By Mark Powell

Can we get a break in the action, please!
The wide receiver market has been exceptionally active on Monday, with both DeAndre Hopkins and Stefon Diggs getting shipped to the Cardinals and Bills, respectively. Not to be outdone, Amari Cooper has agreed to a new contract with the Dallas Cowboys, making him one of the highest-paid receivers in football.
Cooper agreed to a five-year deal with Dallas for $100 million, a move many expected, but the Cowboys surely feared wouldn't come to fruition after both sides played hardball at times this offseason.
The #Cowboys have reached an agreement in principle with WR Amari Cooper on a 5-year, $100M deal, source says. He never wanted to leave Dallas, and now he sticks around.

Cooper is coming off his best season as a pro, in which he caught 79 passes for almost 1,200 yards and eight touchdowns. The 26-year-old has made four Pro Bowls in five seasons, and has established a rapport with Dak Prescott, who ought to be next on Dallas' plan for long-term contracts.
The new CBA impacted Dallas greatly, as they couldn't apply both the franchise tag and transition tag in the same offseason. This meant they effectively had to choose between Cooper and Prescott for the franchise tag. On Monday, the Cowboys franchised Prescott for a one-year deal worth more than $30 million, while risking losing Cooper altogether.
Here’s a twist: the Washington Redskins pursued Amari Cooper today and tried to pry him away. Dallas prevailed. https://t.co/DNuD48VV0B

Thankfully for Jerry Jones' sake, the Cowboys were willing to up the ante when it counted most.
