The recent mass shooting in El Paso rocked the nation to its core. In the wake of the disaster, people from all over the country have shown an outpouring of support for the victims.

Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys are no different, and they're doing their part to help the recovery process. Jones' foundation and the Cowboys organization have announced they they will donate $50,000 to the El Paso Community Foundation Victims' Fund.

It's a heartwarming gesture of support that shows that all of Texas stands in solidarity with the victims of the horrific tragedy.

The donation is by no means out of character for Jones. He's always been ready and willing to give to those in need. Just two years ago, the Cowboys' owner gave $1 million to the relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, which devastated the Houston area.

He also donated $7.5 million to a facility for free cancer patient lodging in Dallas back in May.

It's times like these that remind us that there are far more important things than sports. We get so caught up in being fans that we often put fandom above all else.

But Jerry Jones' generosity in support of the victims serve as a reminder that sports can be used to heal from such tragedies. Kudos to him for using his position as a means to help mend a broken community.
