Mike McCarthy has assembled a fairly impressive staff since being named head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, and those remodeling efforts continued on Sunday morning.

Only this time, McCarthy dipped into the college ranks to add to his staff.

Per Yahoo Sports' Pete Thamel, the Cowboys have appointed Texas A&M cornerbacks coach Maurice Linguist to take a similar position with the organization.

Linguist has served as the DBs coach for the Aggies for the last two seasons and has, as Thamel notes, established a reputation as one of the SEC's coveted young commodities.

The buzz surrounding Linguist began during his tenure as Mississippi State's secondary coach back in 2016. He was subsequently promoted to the assistant head coaching position at Minnesota while also conducting DB schemes.

It didn't take long for Linguist to improve the Golden Gophers' defensive unit as they ranked No.11 in passing defense in 2018. That jump earned him the job at Texas A&M.

The NFL, of course, is a different monster, but Linguist's resume suggests that he'll make a smooth transition.
