This Cowboys Player is a Surprise Breakout Candidate for 2020
By Max Smith
The Cowboys will need to make serious improvements if they want to contend for a championship in 2020. They finally got rid of Jason Garrett this offseason, bringing in former Packers coach Mike McCarthy, which is a step in the right direction. They will also need players take steps forward. One Cowboy in particular will take advantage of the opportunity he's about to be given in a big way.
It's finally Blake Jarwin's time to break out. After being signed as an undrafted free agent in 2017, he's had limited roles in the past two seasons. In 2020, the tight end position will be his to lose. He's had enough time to develop in order to prove himself as the best one for the job.
If the Cowboys hadn't brought back Jason Witten last offseason, Jarwin was ready to step in and be an impact player. In 2019, Jarwin averaged a solid 11.8 yards per reception. What will he be able to do with the TE job all to himself this fall?
After re-signing Amari Cooper and drafting CeeDee Lamb, the Cowboys offense is going to be scary next season. Along with Michael Gallup, Ezekiel Elliott, and one of the best offensive lines in the league, defenses are going to have their hands full when they face off against the Cowboys.
This will provide Jarwin opportunities to find space in opponents' defenses. If McCarthy can use him correctly, this will be Jarwin's breakout campaign. Book it.
