Rumors of Expected Free Agency Contract for Byron Jones Are Truly Wild
The Dallas Cowboys have several big-money decisions to make this offseason. One could have been for Byron Jones, but it appears he will be playing elsewhere in 2020.
His insane contract projections may explain why the Cowboys gave up without much of a fight (in addition to the fact Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper obviously take precedent).
Jones is projected to get a record deal for a cornerback -- $18 million per year is unheard of at the position considering Xavien Howard made waves in 2019 with his five-year, $77.5 million deal. Jones could be looking at a five-year, $90 million deal with two-thirds of that guaranteed.
Jones, the former 2015 first-round pick, has proven he's one of the best in the league over the past two seasons. To think this guy initially played safety in the NFL!
Now, he'll be heavily sought after this offseason, but Dallas will have to watch him (or maybe play against him) when he's inevitably wearing another uniform in 2020.
