Here's How the Cowboys Can Sign Emmanuel Sanders With Limited Cap Space
By Michael Luciano
Jerry Jones is not messing around this offseason, as the tagging of Dak Prescott and signings of Amari Cooper and Gerald McCoy have the Dallas Cowboys poised to grab the NFC East crown this season.
Dallas is not done adding new bells and whistles to their offense, as the Cowboys are interested in bringing in former San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders to play alongside Cooper and Michael Gallup despite a lack of cap space at the moment.
The Cowboys silently restructured the deals of Ezekiel Elliott and La'El Collins in order to free up more space for Prescott's and Cooper's contracts. With Travis Frederick and Tyron Smith both accounting for eight-figure cap hits, playing with their contracts to free up more space could help Sanders touch down in Dallas.
The only non-starter eating up a ton of cap room on Dallas' roster that the team could jettison is defensive tackle Tyrone Crawford. The signing of Gerald McCoy and the development of 2019 second-round pick Trysten Hill could give the Cowboys enough ammunition to part with Crawford and get them the necessary money to bring Sanders aboard.
Sanders is going to cost Dallas a pretty penny in free agency, but Jones has proven that he's a master of tinkering with the cap to bring in stars, and the former SMU star could be on his way back to Dallas if Jones cuts Crawford and restructures a few big deals.
