Cowboys CB Byron Jones Listed as Game-Time Decision for Week 17
By Andy Loughmiller
Although they will need a little assistance from the Giants in Week 17, the Dallas Cowboys still have a chance to clinch a spot in the NFL playoffs with a win over the Redskins and an Eagles loss. That said, they could be without one of their best defensive backs on Sunday.
Byron Jones, who is arguably the most important member of Dallas' secondary, did not participate in practice on Friday and was spotted wearing a boot on his right foot.
This is bad news for Cowboys fans ahead of their must-win matchup against the Redskins.
Jones will be a game-time decision vs. Washington. If he can't play, Jourdan Lewis could be asked to move from his usual nickel position and play on the outside.
The versatile DB hasn't logged an interception in 2019, but he's still a valuable member of the defense who will be missed if he isn't able to get on the field for the season finale. Even if he can go on Sunday, he likely won't be 100% healthy, which is problematic for a player who relies heavily on his speed and athleticism.
