Mel Kiper Jr. Projects the Cowboys to Select Star WR in NFL Draft and Dallas Fans Should Be Amped
By Brady Williams
There's now officially less than a month until the NFL Draft. With it drawing near, the experts and insiders are coming closer and closer to locking down an accurate mock up. If ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr.'s latest mock is correct, Dallas Cowboys fans are in for a treat in the 2020 season.
Wide receivers Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs III and CeeDee Lamb are in a footrace to be the first wide receiver taken. In Kiper's latest set of predictions, San Francisco will take Jeudy and the Denver Broncos will take Ruggs, leaving Lamb wide open for the Cowboys.
Lamb is an all-around receiver who can be a clear number one, but his athleticism can make him deadly in the slot as well. He ran a 4.5-second 40-yard dash at the Combine and he's as good a route runner as anyone in the draft this year. With the Cowboys re-signing Amari Coper and tagging Dak Prescott, their offense is set to be among the best in the league. Adding Lamb alongside Cooper and Michael Gallup would be incredible.
One of the few knocks against Lamb is his smaller frame, but with Cooper as the set number one, it takes some of the pressure off of him as he develops. Cowboys fans can look forward to some huge breakaway plays from Lamb if Dallas goes all-in on him.
With 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2019, Lamb showed against some top NCAA competition that he's a surefire draft prospect. In an offense that already includes Prescott, Cooper, and Ezekiel Elliott, his addition would make the Cowboys one of the most dynamic units in the entire NFL. If Mel Kiper is right, Cowboys fans are going to be celebrating until the start of the 2020 season.
