Cowboys Defensive Passing Game Coordinator Kris Richard Interviewing for Giants Head Coaching Job
By Michael Luciano
The New York Giants need to strike gold with their next head coach after struggling under the guidance of Ben McAdoo and Pat Shurmur, and they might need to poach a top assistant from a rival do to so.
Dallas Cowboys defensive backs coach and defensive passing game coordinator Kris Richard will interview for the vacant Giants job after reports revealed he's meeting with owner John Mara and GM Dave Gettleman in New York.
Richard generated some legit head coaching interest last season after he interviewed with the New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins before all of them went in other directions.
Richard first shot to fame as the defensive backs coach for Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, and Kam Chancellor in the famed "Legion of Boom" defense in Seattle. After he got his championship ring, he served as the Seahawks defensive coordinator for two seasons before taking a job as Dallas' defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator.
If there's one thing you won't have to worry about with Richard as the coach, it's a lack of leadership. Richard's vocal personality should be a nice system shock for a Giants team who suffered under the placid tones of Pat Shurmur and Ben McAdoo over the last four years.
