Everson Griffen Would Be Perfect Replacement for Robert Quinn on Cowboys Defense

Former Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen has been one of the most underrated defensive players over the last decade or so, as his speed rushes off the edge have been a big part of what made Minnesota's D so feared.

In a somewhat surprising turn of events, Griffen confirmed that 2019 was his last season in with the only team he's ever played for and he'll explore other options in free agency.

After losing Robert Quinn to the Chicago Bears in free agency, the Dallas Cowboys need to be all over Griffen.

Griffen's 66 pressures across 15 games would have outpaced both Quinn and DeMarcus Lawrence last season. While his market isn't as robust as some other pass rushers given the fact he'll turn 33 during the middle of the season, that's no excuse for Dallas not to look into signing him.

On top of his ability to rush the passer, Griffen has proven to be a solid run-stuffer on the outside. A complete defensive end, Mike Nolan would love a specimen like Griffen on his D-line.

Pass rushers like Quinn don't just grow on trees, but Griffen's production over the last decade puts him firmly in that rarified air. DeMarcus Lawrence can't stand another season of merciless double teams, and Griffen could give the Dallas defense a veteran who can up the fear factor for the entire unit. Jerry Jones needs to call his agent right this moment.
