VIDEO: Cowboys Get Points After Cheap Shot by Patriots DL Deatrich Wise on Dak Prescott
By Karl Rasmussen
The Patriots defense was looking to get off the rain-soaked field against the Cowboys during the second quarter on Sunday when one member of the D-line made a costly error. Deatrich Wise was flagged for roughing the passer when he unwisely rammed into Dak Prescott well after the Dallas QB fired off a pass.
Wise bowled over Prescott well after the ball was released, and despite not landing on the QB, the flags were thrown. Light hit, but it still counts.
The 25-year-old has to know better than to run into the quarterback at full force like that, and his mistake gave the Cowboys a fresh set of downs and 15 yards.
Naturally, Dallas cashed in on a short Brett Maher field goal (following the Pats bucking up in the red zone).
We'll see in the coming days if there's punishment forthcoming for Wise, who didn't hit Prescott with his full force, but should've known better.
