VIDEO: Wild Clip Shows Cowboys Safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix Getting Close to Bear and Cub
By Joe Birdsall
Yikes, that was a close one! Dallas Cowboys safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix shared a video of his scary encounter with a bear and its cub via Instagram on Tuesday, joking that his experience playing defense fueled his frantic escape. The security camera footage shows Clinton-Dix riding a scooter through an alley before he spotted the bears, at which point he ditched the scooter and fled.
The video prompted some Twitter users, including Pro Football Focus's Jarad Evans, to poke fun at the journeyman safety, who is headed to his fourth team in three seasons.
Cowboys fans, on the other hand, used the encounter as an opportunity to lobby for the team to trade for Clinton-Dix's potential replacement, New York Jets All-Pro safety Jamal Adams. Adams has requested a trade and expressed his desire to play for Dallas, with fans taking notice.
Clinton-Dix signed a one-year deal with Dallas in March after spending 2019 with the Chicago Bears, and likely hopes to find a long-term NFL home with Mike McCarthy, his former coach in Green Bay. He's certainly lucky to have escaped this encounter with nothing more than a funny story, as a closer approach to the bears could have resulted in serious injury.
