3 Assets Cowboys Can Offer Jets in Jamal Adams Trade Talks

If the marriage between the New York Jets and safety Jamal Adams wasn't on the rocks before, it definitely is now. Enter the Dallas Cowboys, who were rumored to be waiting in the wings for Adams since this past season's trade deadline. Dallas is looking to contend for the Super Bowl this season, and adding the safety would vastly improve their defense. Even though it'll come at a price, the Cowboys have the pieces to facilitate a move here with New York.

Here are three assets the Cowboys can flip to the Jets for Adams.

3. CB Chidobe Awuzie

When you look at the Cowboys' cornerback depth chart, there are a bevy of players set to hit the open market in the next year. One of those guys is Chidobe Awuzie, arguably their best corner. However, his spot on the team isn't a sure thing, considering Dallas selected cornerbacks Trevon Diggs and Reggie Robinson II in the NFL Draft. When you look at the Jets, they desperately need a defensive back of Awuzie's caliber to shore up their secondary. In 2019, the former Colorado standout allowed 58 catches on 97 targets for 726 yards and three touchdowns. Any corner who allows a completion percentage below 60 is definitely worth adding to your roster. If New York gives in to Adams' trade demands, they better get Awuzie in return.

2. 2021 First-Round Pick

If history has proven anything, it's that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones isn't afraid to flip a high draft pick for top-tier talent. Jones traded away Dallas' 2018 first-round pick to the now-Las Vegas Raiders for receiver Amari Cooper, and his presence helped the 'Boys clinch the NFC East crown that season. So, it's not out of the realm of possibility that Jones would flip their 2021 first-rounder to the Jets for Adams. At this stage, Adams will be more valuable than their pick that's destined to fall in the mid-to-late first round.

1. WR Michael Gallup

Besides cornerback help, the Jets have a pressing need at the wide receiver position. The team lost deep threat Robbie Anderson to the Carolina Panthers, leaving quarterback Sam Darnold without a top target. The Jets can give him one in the form of Michael Gallup. Just last season, Gallup recorded 66 receptions for a staggering 1,107 yards and six touchdowns . Entering 2020, Gallup's production could take a serious hit in Dallas, considering the team drafted Oklahoma receiver CeeDee Lamb this past April. Let's face it, Gallup can thrive with Gang Green, and general manager Joe Douglas would be wise to ask for him if he were to negotiate a deal with the Cowboys.
