Cowboys' Latest Meeting With Jason Garrett Accomplished Nothing and This is Getting Ridiculous
By Sam Dunn
Black Monday came and went. Now, Blacker Tuesday (and calendar year 2019) is certain to fade away without a single shred of meaningful news concerning the job status of Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett.
Per NFL insider Jane Slater, Garrett met with Dallas brass Tuesday afternoon... and no decision was reached about his future.
You may be tempted to scream at the sheer inanity in play here. Don't -- it's not worth the energy. It just isn't.
Nobody on earth could possibly believe that Jerry Jones hasn't yet decided whether he wants to keep Garrett on as head coach or not. Such an idea, on its face, is preposterous. The man has been at the helm since 2011. Every last fan in Big D knows exactly where his ceiling is. He's not going to learn any new tricks.
So, what's the freaking hold-up, Jerry?
Uhhh... okay?
This is surely the most infuriating subplot in the NFL among teams outside the postseason looking in. Wake us when it's over. At this point, the uncertainty surrounding the head coaching job in the Metroplex has descended into a level of farce that a whole season of "Arrested Development" could barely hope to match.
