Cowboys Lose Yet Another Scout to the Raiders
By Sean Facey
One by one, the Oakland Raiders are poaching scouts from teams across the league, but the Dallas Cowboys seem to be their favorite target.
Walter Juniff joins new director of college scouting Jim Abrams as the second scout to defect from the Cowboys this offseason.
Juniff, who joined the Cowboys all the way back in 1988, was a jack-of-all-trades during his time in Dallas. He served as assistant director of college and pro scouting, a southeast scout and a national college scout.
Abrams was Dallas' West Coast scout before he joined the Mike Mayock's staff with the Raiders in April.
The moves come in lieu of Jon Gruden's decision to clean house in the scouting department ahead of the draft a few weeks ago.
Oakland also hired New England Patriots national scout DuJuan Daniels early on Monday.
Perhaps this is all coming just a couple of weeks too late, but at the very least the Raiders are shaking things up on the scouting front. They may be on the brink of nabbing some excellent talent in the draft in the near future if all goes well.
