Cowboys Missing Out on Jamal Adams Trade Would Be Total Choke Job After Latest Reports
By Jerry Trotta
It's been anticipated for a while now that the New York Jets would be faced with a grueling decision regarding the future of safety Jamal Adams. The 24-year-old star is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and, as one of the best safeties in the NFL, he's due for a massive pay day.
Well, ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported on Friday morning that New York hasn't expressed any known interest in extending Adams. In fact, he could be on the trade block during draft week.
The Dallas Cowboys really have no choice but to get the Jets on the phone straight away.
It's well documented that the Cowboys were one of the teams inquiring about Adams' availability at the 2019 trade deadline. New York was shopping him, but its asking price was simply too steep for Dallas to accept.
The Jets were reported to be seeking a first-round pick, and two-second rounders. As good as Adams' is, that is a ridiculous price for a safety. However, GM Joe Douglas will likely be asking for something similar this time around.
Dallas has the assets in place to get a deal done, but the team's back is against the wall with the NFL Draft just six days away. If the Cowboys really have Super Bowl aspirations, they should do whatever it takes to land Adams, but they better act fast.
