Cowboys Need to Address Offensive Line in the Draft After Letting Cam Fleming Walk
By Evan Wolff
Okay, Cowboys fans, here's some good news and some bad news. The good news is that you have your starting quarterback locked up for at least another year, and one of the best receivers in the NFL has been locked up for the rest of his prime. Your offense is still one of the most potent in the NFL.
The bad news? Securing these talents means cap space is, at best, limited to make sure that the talents of these players are fully utilized for merely the 2020 season. One of the immediate priorities for Jerry Jones now turns to replacing the services of offensive lineman Cam Fleming now that Fleming chose to test his value on the free agent market, and it's a tall task given such limited financial flexibility.
Cam Fleming had been a Cowboy for two seasons, and only started six games for the team. However, he was a valuable asset on one of the best run-blocking teams in the league. Replacing a guy of his caliber won't be possible through the free agent market given the costs, which is why the Cowboys must turn to the draft to find offensive line help.
One name that could very well help out the Cowboys is Damien Lewis. A strong guard out of LSU with excellent run-blocking skills, he could be the perfect prospect to develop behind multiple Pro Bowl lineman, while also being a useful asset. Jerry and Co. need to do whatever is necessary to nab a player like him.
