Cowboys OL Connor Williams Out for Season After Tearing ACL vs Bills
By Mark Powell
Cowboys offensive lineman Connor Williams underwent arthroscopic knee surgery earlier this month, but he'll be on the mend for far longer this time around.
In Dallas' Thanksgiving Day loss to the Buffalo Bills, Williams reportedly suffered a torn ACL, thus ending his season. This is another major blow to the Cowboys' offensive line, as La'el Collins and Zack Martin have also missed time of late.
As Jason Garrett tries to put the puzzle pieces back into place after the Cowboys fell apart the last two weeks in losses to AFC East opponents, dealing with injuries at core positions won't help matters.
In Williams' place, Xavier Su'a-Filo is likely to step into his starting spot, as he did in early November.
Thankfully, Su'a-filo is used to stepping in when called upon.
“I don’t know, but like every single week I come in and prepare to be the starter,” Su’a-Filo said in mid-November. “Last year, they were counting on me to be prepared. Mentally and physically you have to be ready. At any moment you have to be prepared. You look real silly if you’re not prepared.”
He's right, as Su’a-Filo started the final eight games of the regular season in 2018.
For Williams' sake, we're hoping for a full recovery, as the former Longhorn aims to be ready a the start of Training Camp next season.
