Cowboys Reportedly Adding Former Vikings Defensive Coordinator George Edwards to Coaching Staff
By Michael Luciano

The Minnesota Vikings decided to part ways with defensive coordinator George Edwards after the San Francisco 49ers ate them alive in the playoffs, but he's not going to be unemployed for long.
Edwards, who was Mike Zimmer's defensive coordinator for his entire reign in Minnesota, will coach the Dallas Cowboys' linebackers as part of Mike McCarthy's new coaching staff. He will have a larger role than just LB coach, but it remains unclear at this time, per a report.
George Edwards is joining Cowboys staff and will work with linebackers. Role will be larger than that, per source

Edwards' defense was once among the most feared in the league before regressing to the middle of the pack in most major defensive categories last year, including points allowed (13th) and yards per game (15th).
Mike Nolan might be the defensive coordinator, but adding a voice like Edwards', who had plenty of experience stopping McCarthy offenses in Minnesota, is never a bad idea.

McCarthy has assembled an all-star staff in Dallas, and a mind like Edwards' could turn out to be huge as the Cowboys look to get back to the postseason in 2020.
