Cowboys Reportedly Hiring Former Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy to Replace Jason Garrett
By Jerry Trotta
There was buzz that the Dallas Cowboys' delayed dismissal of head coach Jason Garrett would see them lose out on a flurry of potential replacements.
Well, that doesn't appear to be the case, as one of the hottest free agent commodities is reportedly on the verge of being appointed by Jerry Jones and Co.
Per NFL insider Jay Glazer, the Cowboys have agreed to terms with former Green Bay Packers boss Mike McCarthy.
Talk about dropping a bomb on a Monday morning.
McCarthy, of course, was brought in by Dallas for an interview over the weekend while the organization was still meeting with Garrett regarding his future. It's been largely reported that the Cowboys weren't interested in hiring a HC without proper NFL experience, and McCarthy absolutely fills that bill.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero jumped in and conveyed that McCarthy has told him specifically that he's accepted the Cowboys offer to become their new HC.
It's almost official, folks, and we're quite astonished that Jones worked so quickly in the wake of Garrett's firing.
Dallas got their man.
