Cowboys Reportedly Inspired by Team Meeting With Jason Garrett Thursday
By Scott Rogust
The Dallas Cowboys were deflated throughout this past week following their home loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 10.
On Sunday, however, the Cowboys seemed awakened on offense, defeating the Detroit Lions 35-27 behind a remarkable effort by Dak Prescott. So what led to such a resurgence in Week 11?
According to Jane Slater of NFL Network, head coach Jason Garrett held a team meeting on Thursday. While no details of the meeting were revealed, Slater said Garrett took responsibility for "some things," which was well-received by the players, who played hard for all parties in this one.
The meeting obviously served the 'Boys well.
Dallas was stuck in a first-place tie with the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East entering this one, as dissatisfying a position as kissing your sister. Against the Lions, the Cowboys' offense exploded for 509 yards, 444 of which came from Dak Prescott's hose.
To further add to their good Sunday, the Eagles ended up losing 17-10 to the New England Patriots, allowing the 'Boys to regain sole possession of first.
The Dallas Cowboys have supreme talent on their team, and a 6-4 record is frankly inexcusable, especially with losses to the likes of the New York Jets on their ledger.
Jason Garrett knows he's on the hot seat, and thought a team meeting would help light a fire under his players. As it turns out, it worked out perfectly. The Detroit Lions defense also made things easier for Dallas, so give them some credit as well.
Let's see if Dallas' morale remains high after they play the New England Patriots next weekend.
