Field goals have always been a source of anxiety and anguish for football fans. Similar to a penalty shootout, a game-winning field goal kick is one of the most pressure-packed moments in all of sports. Blame often falls on the kicker for a miss, but the snap and the hold are equally important elements of the play. Just ask Tony Romo. In the 2006 Playoffs, Romo's botched moment on field goal hold gave us one of the most remarkable finishes to a playoff game in years.

Down 21-20 with 1:19 to go in the fourth quarter of a Wild Card game against the Seattle Seahawks, the Dallas Cowboys had the chance to go up two with a made field goal. In classic Cowboys fashion, the kick never even happened. Romo fumbled the snap, recovered the ball, and made a desperate run towards the left corner of the end zone only to be tripped up by Seahawks safety Jordan Babineaux.

Had the kick been executed, the Cowboys would have needed just one defensive stop to get the franchise's first playoff win since the 1996 campaign. Instead, the botched hold set the tone for the rest of Romo's career with the Cowboys. A career marred by the failure to deliver in crucial moments.

The Cowboys playoff struggles have continued even as Dak Prescott has taken over the quarterback position. They have not gotten past the divisional round of the playoffs since their Super Bowl victory in the 1995 season. Even when their struggles subside, Romo's field goal fumble will go down as one of the greatest choke jobs in postseason history.
