Cowboys LB Sean Lee Says He's Going to 'Explore' His Options in Free Agency
Sean Lee has been with the Dallas Cowboys since the 2010 season, and 2019 marked the first time he appeared in 16 games.
The Cowboys have plenty of big decisions to make this offseason and Lee's future is among them. He's a free agent and has said he's going to explore his options before making any decision.
At 33 years old and a laundry list of an injury history, it's very quite possible Lee hangs up the cleats. However, after logging a successful 16-game season on one of the best defenses in the league, demand for the veteran linebacker could get him a hefty payday, whether it's with Dallas or somewhere else.
Lee was second on the team in tackles in 2019 behind Jaylon Smith. It was his best season since 2016, when he was awarded First-Team All-Pro honors after logging 145 tackles in 15 starts.
Lee has been a mainstay on the Cowboys defense for a decade and perhaps a new head coach will signal a new era, but don't rule out another contender looking for a veteran linebacker of his caliber to make a run at the Super Bowl. After all, the Cowboys do have a tight cap situation so it's very possible they won't be able to afford him.
