What in the world is going on with Ezekiel Elliott and the Dallas Cowboys? On Sunday, reports leaked saying the two parties were close to a potential monster extension.

However, with the latest news out of Dallas, it sure seems like the Cowboys and Jerry Jones are preparing to open the season this weekend without Zeke on the gridiron.

This is not good for Elliott fans. Per Michael Gehlken, the Cowboys will be promoting running back Jordan Chunn ahead of Week 1.

You think they'd be doing that if they thought the superstar running back would be taking the field with Dak Prescott and company? I don't think so, though it could be a bluff by the Cowboys too. After all, it would be easy to cut Chunn and open a spot for Zeke.

Though the team was hopeful a contract agreement could be reached over the weekend, it sure looks like things are getting further and further away from going down.

Being one of the most talented RBs in the league, Elliott wants to be paid top dollar. Will Jones give it to him? At this point, everything sure seems to be up in the air.
