Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott caused a stir over the weekend when TMZ reported that he hosted a birthday party for a friend at his home that featured as many as 30 guests, including teammate Ezekiel Elliott.

Local authorities weren't able to confirm or deny that such an event transpired with that many individuals present, though photos obtained by TMZ suggest that there was a social gathering of some sort taking place at Prescott's house.

As expected, the Cowboys' braintrust has weighed in on the controversial story. CEO and vice president Stephen Jones made one thing clear: No matter what happened, Prescott won't be inviting large groups to his home from this point onward.

"We've certainly communicated with Dak and Zeke," Jones said Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan sports radio in Dallas. "I think they're certainly aware now of how sensitive these situations are, and I don't think you'll be seeing that anymore. They are certainly guys we have the utmost respect for. I certainly know they understand the sensitivity of the situation we're in, it's certainly very serious and something we know they understand."

Sorry, but that just isn't going to cut it. If they really were in the wrong, then here's little reason for the 55-year-old exec to stick up for his two stars here. Going as far as to say that "they understand the sensitivity" and importance of social distancing despite evidence suggesting otherwise just feels empty.

If anything, fans deserve to hear the whole truth from the players themselves.

This is definitely a sticky situation, and Jones had the opportunity to clean it up to the best of his ability. Unfortunately, concern still remains about precisely what went down, and whether or not the proper lessons have been learned in the aftermath.
