3 Most Underrated Moves of Cowboys Offseason
By Jack Murphy
The Dallas Cowboys have had themselves an eventful offseason so far and they aren't even close to being done. They gave wide receiver Amari Cooper a new five-year deal and slapped the exclusive franchise tag on quarterback Dak Prescott.
While these were the headlines of the Cowboys' offseason, Jerry Jones and Co. made some other moves that are not receiving enough credit, specifically these three.
3. Signing Dontari Poe
Longtime Buccaneer Gerald McCoy agreed to a three-year deal with the Cowboys after a lone season with the Panthers, putting him alongside DeMarcus Lawrence. Great move, right? Well guess what? Dallas wasn't done there. They also added Dontari Poe, who is an absolute force up the middle and will make this one of the most feared defensive lines in the NFL. Opposing QBs and running backs are in big trouble.
2. Signing Ha Ha Clinton-Dix
Alabama product Ha-Ha Clinton Dix has had a very solid NFL career up to this point. While he's not the star safety some expected him to be out of college, he's still a notable addition to most defenses out there. He has plenty of experience playing on a contender too, thanks to his time with the Green Bay Packers. After letting Byron Jones walk, the Cowboys needed a piece to help beef up their secondary. Dix is coming off a season as a member of the Chicago Bears in which he tallied 78 tackles and three interceptions. Playing alongside Xavier Woods should help him out a lot too.
1. Re-Signing Sean Lee
Did we forget about this guy?! Sean Lee has been a key figure in Cowboys defense for many years now. While he has missed a lot of time due to injuries over the years, Lee has been the leader whenever he's on the gridiron. While he may not put up the same dominant All-Pro numbers from his 2015 campaign, he still provides the tenacity and knowledge it takes to captain the unit. Another year of him mentoring Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith will also go a long way.
