Cowboys Are About to Welcome Randy Gregory Back With Open Arms Thanks to New CBA

When Randy Gregory was indefinitely suspended from the NFL, the league was a very different place.

Thanks to the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, ratified just before free agency, positive marijuana tests will be treated as footnotes instead of death sentences. And with that in mind, Gregory seems ready to be reinstated, waiting for his application to process.

Though it took an unexpected turn to get here, Gregory could be exactly the breath of fresh air Dallas needs opposite DeMarcus Lawrence.

Even with Robert Quinn opposite him, Lawrence couldn't apply his standard pressure in 2019, often counteracted by double teams.

Dallas is prepared to welcome any potential aid to the D-line in 2020, and they might just receive a "get out of jail free" card when Gregory's hearing is done.

Likely all you've heard about Gregory over the years is his troublesome nature, and how he can't be trusted to ignore his vices and stay on the field. That would be a valid criticism, if marijuana were still policed like PEDs. All of Gregory's registered violations, from the Combine to his college days at Nebraska, are related to the recreational drug.

In an NFL landscape where such pockmarks are entirely tolerated, Dallas should be prepared to bolster their line with a young player whose power and burst were never the question marks that surrounded him.
