Cowboys WRs Coach Sanjay Lal Has Eye-Opening Analysis of Amari Cooper
By Scott Rogust
It's been one calendar year since the Dallas Cowboys traded for then-Oakland Raiders wide receiver Amari Cooper in exchange for a 2019 first-round pick. Initially, the move was universally derided, but now, the Cowboys look like the Albert Einsteins of the NFL.
Cooper has been the missing piece the Cowboys offense and quarterback Dak Prescott needed. But according to Dallas wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal, Cooper isn't even elite yet. That's scary.
If the Cooper we see on the field isn't elite, we can't wait to watch him at his full potential. That'd be downright terrifying for defensive backs around the league.
Cooper made an immediate impact since joining the Cowboys, instantly becoming a top receiver in the entire NFL. Through 16 regular season games, Cooper has caught 91-of-126 targets for 1,346 yards and 11 touchdowns. That's a Pro Bowl-caliber season.
Luckily for Cooper, he has the chance to cash in at the end of the season, where he's set to become an unrestricted free agent. If the Cowboys don't sign him, some team will pay him top dollar and will get the "elite" Amari Cooper, according to Sanjay Lal.
