The Chicago Cubs continued their offseason plan to bolster their weak bullpen in a Friday trade with the Dodgers.
Los Angeles sent standout 2019 reliever Casey Sadler to the Windy City in exchange for minor-league utility-man Clayton Daniel.

Sadler put up a breakout campaign in 2019. He entered the season with a 6.86 ERA in 19 1/3 career innings, but he posted a mark of 2.14 in 46 1/3 innings of work with both the Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Dodgers.
He'll no doubt be a key piece in the back end of the bullpen for the Cubs heading into 2020.

In exchange, the Dodgers landed an intriguing minor-leaguer in Clayton Daniel. In his age-24 season, he put up a respectable .305/.397/.402 slash line in 281 plate appearances between Single-A and Double-A.
Though Daniel is on the older side for a player who just got his first taste of Double-A baseball last year, he could prove to be useful for the Dodgers in the future, especially considering he can play every infield position except first base.
It's a minor trade that gives the Cubs another strong bullpen piece and the Dodgers another versatile minor league player.
