Cubs Agree to Minor League Deal With Former Twins Outfielder Ian Miller
By Scott Rogust
The Chicago Cubs made a minor move on Tuesday by signing utility man Hernan Perez, and they weren't done as Wednesday rolled around.
According to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal, the North Siders signed outfielder Ian Miller to a minor league contract.
Miller, a 14th-round pick in the 2013 MLB Draft by the Seattle Mariners, doesn't have much big league experience. The outfielder spent all of his Seattle tenure in the minors, up until being traded to the Minnesota Twins this past August.
After his trade to Minnesota, Miller made his debut in th Show in early September, appearing in 12 games. During that span, Miller posted a .176 batting average and .412 OPS with three hits and one RBI.
Prior to that, Miller played for Triple-A Tacoma and Rochester in 2019. In 121 minor league games last season, he recorded a .264 batting average, .777 OPS, 11 home runs, 58 RBI, and 38 stolen bases.
At the very least, Ian Miller gives the Chicago Cubs organization a true speedster.
