VIDEO: Cubs Announcer and Former Houston Pitcher Jim Deshaies Flames Astros With On-Air Burn
By Michael Luciano
Even during a fairly routine Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers Spring Training game, the Houston Astros are fair game to be excoriated and mocked at every turn. Cubs analyst and former Astros pitcher Jim Deshaies, who made his mark as a professional in his seven-season run with Houston in the late 80s and early 90s, wasn't above poking fun at the Astros' sign stealing scandal. He quipped that if the players hate the booing, they'll have to figure out a better way to deal with it than blocking out the noise because...well...
Yeah, tough to hear the bangs with your ears plugged up! No doubt about that.
The Astros' retribution tour has already begun in Spring Training. Astros hitters have been hit on seven different occasions, with Aledmys Diaz, Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman all getting plunked in separate incidents.
It takes some real guts to look at the team who helped mold you into a star and rip the entire organization on TV, but Deshaies did just that. Something tells us that this isn't the only former Astro that has something to say about the franchise's behavior over the last few years.
