Cubs Provide Modestly Positive Injury Update on Anthony Rizzo After Ankle Scare
By Jerry Trotta

The Chicago Cubs suffered a potentially devastating blow to their Wild Card hopes on Sunday when Anthony Rizzo turned his ankle while attempting to field a bunt and was forced to leave the game.
The All-Star first baseman was unable to walk off the diamond under his own power, but the Cubbies did provide a prudently positive update on the injury: an initial X-ray revealed that he did NOT fracture his ankle on the play.
Anthony Rizzo exited today's game with sprained right ankle.

He will have an MRI tomorrow to determine the severity. Additional X-rays did not reveal a fracture. pic.twitter.com/FJAagQy0o3
Nothing about this predicament is ideal for the Wrigley Field faithful, but they can absolutely view this latest update as a silver lining.
That said, time is the one thing that Chicago does not have at their disposal. Given the recent form of the Brewers, Phillies, and Mets virtually every game they play down the stretch will ooze must-win features.
