Cubs Have Reportedly Spoken to Phillies About Kris Bryant Trade
By Thomas Carannante

In the Chicago Cubs' quest to shed payroll, it appears as if the Kris Bryant trade rumors are growing more legs.
According to the latest reports, the Cubs have spoken to the Philadelphia Phillies about a potential deal for the former MVP.
Cubs have had talks with Phils on Bryant . Nothing there at the moment. Service time grievance still an issue .

But Bryant comes with baggage, as MLB fans are aware of the service time grievance issue his agent Scott Boras raised over the last few seasons. Additionally, the Phillies, oddly enough, reportedly seem hesitant about trading top third base prospect Alec Bohm.
Alec Bohm, Spencer Howard and Bryson Stott are the #Phillies Top-100 prospects.

If Philly can do this deal without involving Bohm, he should immediately get looks in the outfield. https://t.co/aY0cdkf9xL
It could work, after all, because Bryant can play the outfield, but if you're going to trade for him and possibly sign him to a long-term deal, wouldn't you want him playing his natural position?
Do #Cubs have any chance to keep Kris Bryant long term? Or are they resigned to the fate that they'll have to trade him or lose him in free agency?

The Phillies have long been in need of a third baseman with Maikel Franco failing to live up to the hype for years now. With studs like Bryce Harper, JT Realmuto and Rhys Hoskins already front and center in this lineup, the addition of Bryant could make the Phils instant World Series contenders.
But they'll need another pitcher or two to truly make that a reality, so the front office has a lot of work to do regarding various aspects of the roster.
