Cubs hire Carter Hawkins as new general manager
After a long search, it looks like the Chicago Cubs finally have their guy to try and lead the team back to a competitive level. On Wednesday night, reports broke stating the the Cubbies have hired Carter Hawkins to be the club's new general manager.
Hawkins worked his way up through the Cleveland Indians organization, most recently serving as the team's assistant GM. Now, he's ready to be in the spotlight in Chicago.
After cleaning house this season, trading Javy Baez, Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant and others, Chicago is now ready to rebuild. The pressure will surely be on Hawkins to get the team back where it belongs: at a highly competitive level.
