Cubs Jason Heyward Has the Correct Take on MLB Likely Postponing Games Due to Coronavirus
By Scott Rogust

COVID-19 claimed the NBA season Wednesday night, after Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz tested positive for coronavirus, resulting in the league temporarily suspending the campaign. Now, many leagues are expected to follow suit, and that includes MLB.
If Major League Baseball is to postpone the start of the season, Chicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward has no problem with it, because he wants everyone to be safe.
“We just don’t know what we don’t know,” Jason Heyward said. “If they move stuff back and they say pause for a second, then I feel like we all know and trust that it’s within good reason. If that means we got to start later, then so be it. We just want to be safe.”

When first hearing about the coronavirus, many individuals downplayed it by saying that it only effects the elderly. Just like NFL Network's Kyle Brandt, Heyward stressed that he has parents in their 60s, and that the virus could spread to his teammates and their parents quite easily.
What, are we no longer supposed to be cautious about our elderly family members?
Jason Heyward: “I’m more worried about going and saying hello to my parents. They’re 62, 63 years old. I got teammates with kids. Relatives. I’m just more worried about that – the safety of everyone else that may not be able to fight it off.”

Heyward stresses the coronavirus' impact perfectly. There are nations like Italy that are in total quarantine with the purpose of curtailing the spread of this deadly disease, several weeks too late. Schools across our country are being cancelled for the remainder of the month and opting for online classes.
This is something that the modern world has never encountered before, and as is the case with any other illness, it's better to be safe than sorry. And if that means suspending the start of the MLB regular season, then so be it.
