Many may know Javy Baez as a two-time All-Star and World Series Champion, but a look back on his draft-day appearance may come as a bit of a surprise to even the staunchest of Cubs fans.

Back in 2011, the Cubs selected Baez with the No. 9 overall pick in the MLB Draft and he looked just a bit different than he does today. Seriously, his transformation will surely make you do a double take.

Some success in the majors looks to have brought some extra style for Javy.

After being drafted in 2011, Baez spent the first three years of his career in the minors, gradually rising through the ranks. In 2014, Baez received the call up to the big leagues and the rest is history.

If you thought his physical transformation was surprising, his on-field improvement may be an even bigger shock. While Baez was always considered a top prospect, a look at his draft scouting report tells an interesting story.

How about a hitting ability of four and power of five for the man who participated in the 2018 Home Run Derby, not to mention driving in a league-leading 111 RBI that season as well. Perhaps even more misguided is a mediocre fielding rating for one of the league's best second basemen.

Clearly the scouting report could not see what Baez would grow into and his transformation has been a major surprise in more ways than one.
