After an offseason dominated by fiscal frugality, the Chicago Cubs are at camp in Mesa, Arizona and ready to roll, motivated by a new manager in David Ross.

And if there was any worry that perhaps they'd never find their fun-loving selves against after a late-Maddon-era slog, then ideally this photo of Kyle Hendricks from picture day will alleviate all concern.

We don't know what this filter is, and we don't know what Hendricks did to his own face, but we do NOT hate it.

Is this an animation cel from "The Polar Express"? Is this a failed Snapchat filter? Something's off here, and we can't quite place it.

For the impressive bushiness of this mustache, it's also worth noting how delicately it hangs off Hendricks' face. So little of it is actually touching skin that it almost seems like a prop. We're going to jump to conclusions and call the facial hair legitimate, but it does look like it could be torn off on a whim.

Please make this last 'til the regular season?
