It's no secret that the Chicago Cubs flaunt one of the most star-studded infields in the MLB.

However, there have been inklings of the Cubs blowing up the roster this offseason, which suggests that stars such as Kris Bryant and Javier Baez may end up getting dealt.

Well, a report dropped Friday which indicated that Theo Epstein and Co. are beginning contract talks with Javier Baez, prioritizing his deal over Bryant's.

If you ask us, that is ABSOLUTELY the right move.

This opinion is no disrespect towards Bryant, who is obviously a great player in his own right. Look no further than the NL MVP award he took home back in 2016. However, Baez is simply more pivotal to the future of the Cubs. He enjoyed a breakout season in 2018 and backed it up with a strong 2019 campaign.

For the year, Baez hit .281 with an .847 OPS, 29 home runs, 85 RBI, and 89 runs scored. He was named to his second consecutive NL All-Star team in 2019, and at 26, it's a perfect time to lock him down for the future.

Bryant rejected a massive extension from the Cubs last offseason, and now it looks like the organization has shifted its focus towards locking down another one of their budding stars.

Answer this, Wrigley Field faithful: just how much do you miss Baez's energy when he isn't in the lineup? Can the same be said for Bryant? If you answered yes, you're dead wrong.

Moving forth with Baez's contract talks over Bryant's is the right move for the future of the franchise.
