Cubs Option David Bote and Mark Zagunis to Triple-A and Activate Reliever Steve Cishek

The Chicago Cubs get some much needed bullpen help, coming off the injured list.
Chicago activated reliever Steve Cishek from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. In a corresponding move, the Cubs optioned infielder David Bote and outfielder Mark Zagunis to Triple-A Iowa.
Cishek was placed on the injured list on Aug. 10 due to left hip inflammation, which was treated with a cortisone injection. Originally with a timetable for return of a couple of weeks, Cishek needed exactly 10 days to recover.
In 54 games this season, Cishek logged a 3-5 record and seven saves, all on a 3.58 ERA.
Due to the Cubs having an embarrassment of riches in terms of infielders, and with the recent implosion of the bullpen, a move had to be made. Now, Bote and Zagunis join the likes of Addison Russell and Albert Almora Jr. in Iowa.
In 106 games, Bote accumulated a .257 batting average, .352 on-base percentage, and .429 slugging percentage, along with 10 home runs and 40 RBI.
Help is on the way for the Chicago Cubs, as they currently sit half a game behind the St. Louis Cardinals as of Tuesday evening.
