Arguably the biggest trade chip the Chicago Cubs had to offer had hit the IL with an arm injury at literally the worst possible time.

Top prospect Adbert Alzolay, who made his MLB debut this season, has been placed on the injured list at Triple-A Iowa due to a biceps injury. The young hurler was sent back down to the minors in the beginning of July after a rough outing.

Alzolay also missed the tail end of last season with a lat injury, so his injury history isn't worth dismissing.

Alzolay got knocked around in his first taste of big league action--he allowed nine runs in 11.1 innings--but his mid 90s heater and 12.4 K/9 rate in 43 innings at the Triple-A level are still positive points for his trade value. He didn't become the best prospect in their system for no reason.

You might want to put a pin in any Cubs trade deadline predictions, as moving Alzolay is going to be key towards facilitating any sort of deal.
