Cubs Players Sound Amped at Spring Training About David Ross Being Hired as New Manager
By Thomas Carannante

In case you were wondering if the Chicago Cubs made the right move this offseason when they jettisoned Joe Maddon in favor of former player David Ross, the decision is being met with extreme positivity among the players.
Some of the team's biggest stars have spoken about the momentous managerial change and their candid responses say it all.
First came pitcher Kyle Hendricks, who talked about it on Saturday.

Could the veteran be any more direct?
That was hardly the end, however. Javier Baez said Ross taking over as manager should help the team be more ready for games, something that was an issue for them in 2019.
"We weren’t ready." Was a lack of proper preparation one of the reasons the Cubs didn't live up to their potential the last few years? Javier Báez believes it was. And that it will no longer be the case under David Ross. https://t.co/CVMBNv8yjg

At this point we're honestly not sure if these are direct shots at Maddon or not, but it seems very clear important figures on the roster felt this move was essential in the team getting out of its current rut. While Maddon was arguably the best manager in club history, it's clear there was a sense of complacency or feelings of stagnation toward the end of his tenure.
And finally, we have Kris Bryant, who's already to do bodily harm to himself for Ross.

That's what Cubbies fans want to hear.
During an offseason that's been overwhelmingly critical due to the team's financial restrictions and focus on the Marquee Network, some may be overlooking the impact Ross' hiring could have on this roster.
