Cubs Reportedly Among Teams Interested in Diamondbacks OF Jarrod Dyson at Trade Deadline
By Parker White
The Arizona Diamondbacks are hovering around the .500 mark, which could make them sellers at the trade deadline. However, they are only 3.5 games back in the NL Wild Card hunt, which makes standing pat not completely out of the question.
According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, the DBacks are drawing plenty of trade interest for outfielder Jarrod Dyson, and the Chicago Cubs are among the teams understood to be jockeying for his services.
This certainly doesn't move the needle a whole lot for Chicago in their hunt to win the NL Central. Though it would give them a quality fourth outfielder, it doesn't fix their pitching staff-- the rotation and the bullpen on the North Side both need work.
Arizona GM Mike Hazen has been open about not just trying to reach the playoffs, but to win a World Series if they get in. So, if they continue to be a mediocre club, don't expect the DBacks to add. If anything, they'll trade some of their veterans and look towards next year, including someone like Dyson.
In 82 games this season, Dyson is slashing .253/.333/.364 with 6 home runs, 21 RBI and 22 stolen bases.
