Cubs Sign First-Round Pick Ed Howard to Slot Deal in Excellent Father's Day News

The Chicago Cubs hit a home run with their first pick in the 2020 MLB Draft. The team drafted a top shortstop in Ed Howard, who just happened to be a hometown Chicago product. He played high school baseball in the city and the Howard family won't have to travel far to watch him play assuming all goes well and he becomes a future piece in the Cubs lineup.
More good news was revealed Sunday as Howard and the Cubs have reportedly agreed on a deal at slot value for the No. 16 overall pick.
Ed Howard, selected 16th overall by the #Cubs in the #MLBDraft, has agreed to a deal for slot value ($3,745,500).

This is a nice chunk of money to ensure Howard skipped college and began his Cubs career right away and is quite the way to celebrate Father's Day in what has been a weird year for us all.
The Cubs' first-round pick is in the fold. Mount Carmel shortstop Ed Howard, drafted with the 16th pick this month, agreed to terms for the recommended slot value of $3.7455 million, a source said.https://t.co/X1W3KlRIGF

Any stress associated with the draft process should now be gone for Howard and he can focus on staying healthy and preparing to begin his career whenever things get back to normal. His dad may also be asking for quite the extravagant gift for next Father's Day.
