The Chicago Cubs (31-23) will face off against the St. Louis Cardinals (27-28) on Friday in the first game of a three-game series.
How to Live Stream the Game
The matchup will be televised on Fox Sports Midwest and NBCS Chicago at 8:15 p.m. ET. Further streams can be found on the MLB Streams subreddit.
The Cubs enter this game coming off a 2-1 victory over the Houston Astros in the last game of their three-game set. Pitcher Yu Darvish (2-3) will get the start and look to rebound from his last outing, when he was hard by the Cincinnati Reds. In that last start, he allowed six runs (five earned) on 12 hits with five strikeouts through seven innings. He currently has an ugly 5.40 ERA, and definitely needs a solid start here to get back on track.
Cubs Lineup
The red-hot Kris Bryant is front and center in this lineup as the Cubs look to pad their division lead behind Yu Darvish. Anthony Rizzo and Javy Baez, both candidates to make the All-Star game in their own right, will provide some protection for Bryant in the lineup.
Darvish is going to need to limit the amount of baserunners he allows if he wants to have a shot at winning this one. St. Louis, while struggling of late, can get on base when necessary thanks to the high OBP of Paul Goldschmidt and Co.
Cardinals Lineup
The Cardinals enter this game coming off a win against the Philadelphia Phillies, salvaging what would've otherwise been a sweep on the road. Matt Wieters will get the start at catcher as Yadier Molina was placed on the IL on Friday with a thumb injury.
The Cardinals have been middle of the pack in total runs scored with 272, so Miles Mikolas (4-5) will likely have to continue the success that he's had as of late. Besides his blowup against the Texas Rangers, he's allowed just six runs through 27 innings pitched, which is good for a 2.00 ERA.
Overall, Mikolas has a total 4.76 ERA on the year, not doing much to earn the extension bestowed upon him. He's had solid success against the Cubs in the past, as he's posted a 1.38 ERA through 26 innings against them last season.
Given Mikolas' track record against these Cubs, there's a very good chance that the Cardinals could come on top with a win tonight at Busch Stadium.
