Curt Schilling Fires Back at David Wells in NSFW Twitter Exchange Between Former Red Sox Teammates
By Brady Williams
Curt Schilling is a divisive figure in the baseball world. In fact, his controversial opinions and actions have cost him a number of jobs and lost him numerous fans.
His antics, whether they be baseball-related or political, have gotten him in hot water since retiring from Major League Baseball. Now, former pitcher and teammate of Schilling's David "Boomer" Wells has revealed that many players weren't the biggest fans of him even when he was playing.
One fan asked Wells on Twitter if there was a player in the league that was universally hated by everyone else. He didn't skip a beat and called out Schilling. Ever the diplomat, Schilling responded with a little name-calling.
Wells spent two years in New York. He also played for nine different teams from 1988 to 2007, the same span of time Schilling was in the league. When they finally played on the same team, it was in Boston, and that might be something Yankees fans want to hang their hat on.
Schilling's reply wasn't particularly surprising. Not exactly one to let something roll off his back, the six-time All-Star had a similarly vulgar reply to a random Twitter user just 22 minutes before.
Wells hasn't responded to Schilling's attack, but he's already made his point known.
