D'Andre Swift Has Every Opportunity to Prove Doubters Wrong in Detroit
By Michael Luciano
Despite his last name, questions about his speed helped Georgia running back D'Andre Swift slide out of the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
He didn't have to wait long to find out where his pro career would begin, however, as the Detroit Lions used the No. 35 overall pick on the former Bulldog workhorse.
Swift ran for 1,218 yards on 6.2 yards per carry in the SEC, and he is one of the best pass blockers in the draft at the running back spot.
Despite all of that, he lasted until Day 2. Matt Patricia and the Lions made a very wise selection by ending Swift's fall this early on Day 2. Expect a productive season in Year 1 in Darrell Bevell's offense.
Swift gets a chance to play right away, as the combination of him and Kerryon Johnson should help Detroit's running game get back into the top-half of the league for the first time since Barry Sanders retired. Swift's revenge tour starts right now.
